‎Retired Officer Commends Yerima’s Courage, Offers Part of His Pension

‎In a touching Facebook post, the retired police officer, Sunny Anyanwu, shared that despite his modest monthly pension of ₦49,000, he was moved to offer ₦5,000 to Lieutenant Yerima as a token of appreciation for his bravery and professionalism. According to Anyanwu, Yerima’s actions reminded him of the sacrifices he himself made during his 35 years of service to the Nigeria Police Force.

‎“Out of my ₦49k monthly pension, I have decided to offer ₦5K to the naval officer who had an open confrontation with the FCT Minister, WIKE,” he wrote. “This officer deserves respect. He could be regarded as a British-trained officer for the discipline and decorum he displayed.”

‎He went further to urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to honor Lieutenant Yerima with a Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) award in recognition of his exemplary conduct, adding that Nigeria needs more officers who can stand firm with integrity and courage in the line of duty.

‎“I will also advise President Tinubu to honor him with the award of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR). His bank details should be forwarded through his department please. This is the type of insult I took for 35 years and get ₦49k monthly pension,” Anyanwu added.

‎His statement has since generated massive reactions across social media, with many Nigerians applauding the retired officer’s humility and patriotism while also commending Yerima for upholding military values in a moment of tension.
