Following the tragic incident in Kwara State, a Nigerian pastor has staged a solo protest, issuing a heartfelt message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the worsening security situation in the country. The incident, which occurred on November 18, 2025, involved gunmen storming the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, leaving at least two people dead and several worshippers, including the pastor, abducted. This shocking event has reignited public concern over safety in places of worship and the government’s response to increasing insecurity nationwide.
Pastor Stages Solo Protest After Kwara Church Attack
The clergyman, Apostle Harrison Ayintele, took to TikTok to express his deep concerns regarding the current state of security in Nigeria. In his post, he highlighted that the safety of citizens has deteriorated significantly under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Ayintele emphasized that many Nigerians now live in fear and are traumatized by repeated attacks, citing incidents of abductions and killings, particularly in Northern Nigeria, which he described as bordering on genocide.
Drawing on suggestions from the General Overseer of the Redeemer Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, regarding urgent measures to address insecurity, Ayintele called on President Tinubu to take immediate action against terrorism in the country. He acknowledged the complexity of leadership, stating: “We have seen a decline in security from that time, and it worsens under your administration sir. We live in fear, we are traumatized, we are really traumatized sir, the genocide in the North. Daddy Adeboye suggested a swift action on this. I am not in your shoes, I don’t know what you know, I know leadership can be difficult and we followers don’t always know the full weight of the responsibility.”
The solo protest by Pastor Ayintele symbolizes the growing frustration of ordinary Nigerians who feel vulnerable and inadequately protected in the face of violent attacks. His message to the President underscores the urgent need for stronger security measures, improved intelligence operations, and a more proactive approach to tackling terrorism and organized crime across Nigeria.
Impact on Families and Communities
In the aftermath of the attack, the human cost became more apparent as families shared their distress online. A Nigerian farmer, for instance, lamented the abduction of her sister during the Kwara church attack, highlighting the personal toll of the violence. According to her Facebook post, her cousin was among the worshippers taken by the attackers, leaving relatives desperate and calling for urgent intervention from security agencies.
The incident has also sparked widespread discussion on social media, with users expressing outrage over the recurrent targeting of churches and the need for government accountability. Citizens continue to urge that protection for vulnerable communities, particularly in rural and high-risk areas, be made a priority to prevent future tragedies and ensure that Nigerian families feel safe and secure in their daily lives.
