Controversial Nigerian singer, Speed Darlington, has once again stirred social media reactions after publicly calling out two young ladies who allegedly collected ₦1,000 each as transport fare but failed to show up as agreed.

In a video now making rounds online, the singer expressed frustration and described the act as both “disrespectful and deceitful,” insisting the money must be refunded immediately.

According to Speed Darlington, the ladies had agreed to visit him and were sent transport fare, but shortly after receiving the money, they stopped responding to his calls and messages.

Speed Darlington demands refund

Speaking partly in Igbo, the singer said:

“Come this girl and your sister, return the money I gave you as TFare. Don’t tell me you are so poor and I gave you ₦1000 for transport that you were coming to see me, to sleep with me and then you failed to show up. Send my money back. It is small but send it back.”

He emphasized that despite the amount being small, the principle mattered to him, accusing the girls of deliberately scamming him.

Reactions trail the video

The clip quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions from social media users. Some mocked the situation because the amount involved was just ₦1,000, while others sided with Speed Darlington, arguing that people should be accountable regardless of the amount.

A few commenters joked about the singer’s habit of turning even minor disputes into major trending topics, while others noted that his outspoken nature often puts him at the center of viral controversies.

As of the time of reporting, the ladies accused have not publicly responded to the singer’s claims.

The incident has also sparked a wider discussion about online interactions between celebrities and fans, particularly the boundary between innocent banter and exploitation or harassment.
