The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has officially addressed the circumstances surrounding the arrest and arraignment of Regina Daniels’ brother, Samuel Ojeogwu, widely known as Sammy West, providing clarity on the legal basis and ongoing proceedings related to his detention.

In a detailed statement, police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh explained that the arrest came following a petition lodged on October 28, 2025, which alleged that Sammy West was involved in multiple criminal activities, including criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying. The petition reportedly contained substantial details prompting the authorities to initiate formal investigations.

SP Adeh emphasized that the police made several attempts to summon Sammy West for questioning; however, he failed to respond to these invitations. As a result, law enforcement authorities obtained a valid court warrant for his arrest. He was subsequently apprehended in Lagos and transported to Abuja for further investigation, in line with due process.

The police further confirmed that Samuel Ojeogwu was formally charged to court on November 6, 2025, and was remanded in prison custody. His release is contingent upon meeting the bail conditions set by the court, highlighting that the detention followed legal protocols and is part of ongoing judicial procedures.

The case has attracted significant public attention, particularly due to Regina Daniels’ vocal criticism of her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, whom she has accused of orchestrating her brother’s detention. The actress expressed her frustration over the prolonged custody of her brother, noting that her parents had traveled to Abuja to intervene and seek justice for their son.

In recent public statements and videos, Regina Daniels hinted at the possibility of reconciling with Ned Nwoko solely to secure her brother’s release, while also alleging emotional abuse and manipulation by the senator—claims that Nwoko’s representatives have denied. According to Nwoko’s team, the issues highlighted by Regina stem from personal disputes within the marriage and are not related to any external interference in the legal process involving Sammy West.

The FCT Police Command reiterated that the case is being handled strictly in accordance with the law, stressing that due process has been followed at every stage of the arrest and arraignment. SP Adeh confirmed that investigations remain ongoing and assured the public that updates will be provided as the judicial process continues, underscoring the commitment of law enforcement to transparency and adherence to legal procedures.

The developments surrounding Sammy West’s detention have sparked intense debate on social media, with citizens discussing the legal and political dimensions of the matter, as well as the implications for Regina Daniels and her family amid ongoing personal and public scrutiny.
