Guinness World Records has officially confirmed that Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has earned a brand-new world record title after successfully preparing the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
The achievement comes after her highly publicized Lagos cookout in September, where she and her dedicated culinary team produced an astonishing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice, setting a new global standard for the beloved West African dish.
This new recognition means that Baci has now received her second Guinness World Records plaque. Her first was awarded in May 2023 after she completed a record-breaking 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon that captivated millions around the world.
By securing two separate world records, Baci becomes the first Nigerian chef in history to achieve such a milestone, solidifying her position as one of the continent’s most influential culinary figures.

Speaking after Guinness World Records made the confirmation public, Baci expressed deep gratitude and fulfillment, saying the achievement reflects years of consistency, sacrifice, and unwavering determination.
She explained that earning two global plaques is not just a personal victory but a reminder that passion and perseverance can create historic moments.
Baci also extended special appreciation to Gino, the food brand that partnered with her during the Lagos cookout, acknowledging their crucial support in bringing the massive jollof project to life.

According to her, the cookout reached millions across the world, celebrating Nigeria’s culture, culinary creativity, and the global love for jollof rice.
She further noted that the two Guinness titles represent a journey filled with faith and resilience, adding that she hopes her success will continue to inspire young people to pursue their dreams no matter the obstacles.
