Yoruba film star Baba Ijesha has officially regained his freedom after spending more than three years behind bars, marking a major turning point in a long-running and highly publicized legal battle.
His release was confirmed by actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi in an Instagram announcement shared on November 14, 2025, sparking widespread reactions across social media and the entertainment industry.

It will be recalled that Baba Ijesha was sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2022 after being found guilty on multiple counts related to sexual assault and indecent treatment of a minor.
Details Of The Post
In his latest Instagram update, Yomi Fabiyi revealed that the Appeal Court cleared Baba Ijesha of the specific charge of defiling a minor, a decision that ultimately contributed to his release. Fabiyi had been deeply involved in the case from the beginning, providing commentary, demanding transparency, and questioning evidence presented during the trial.
During the lengthy proceedings, Fabiyi often expressed strong criticism of how the case was handled. In his recent post, he once again described the entire situation as a “charade,” insisting that there was never verified evidence proving the girl was 14 years old at the time of the alleged incident.
He further reiterated his accusations against comedienne Princess, the foster mother of the teenager, alleging that she installed surveillance cameras and groomed the minor, actions he argued amounted to child exploitation. Fabiyi also mentioned another individual, Damola Adekola, whom he claimed was arrested but later released without charges despite allegedly being involved with the girl.
The accusations against Baba Ijesha originally surfaced when Princess publicly announced that her 14-year-old foster daughter had been sexually assaulted by the actor. She later released video evidence, which triggered massive online outrage and influenced the rapid progression of the case to trial.
In 2022, the court found Baba Ijesha guilty on several counts—including sexual assault and indecent treatment—resulting in a 16-year sentence. Although the Appeal Court later upheld these convictions, it dismissed the more severe defilement charge, contributing to a significant change in his legal standing.
Following the announcement of his freedom, social media users, industry colleagues, and activists have continued to express mixed reactions, some celebrating the court's latest ruling and others maintaining their stance based on earlier evidence and testimonies.
